Youth Ministry - Outreach

We are called to serve others.  Here are some of the ways the youth try to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.

  • 2021 SUMMER MISSION tripS - carolina cross connection

    What:  We are excited to be partnering with Carolina Cross Connection in serving the greatest need in western NC.  This may include home repair, yard work & more.  We are staying in-state due to the pandemic.  The class of 2020 is invited to join us since they missed last year’s trip.


    Central Wilkes Middle School - Moravian Falls, NC

    July 11-17 (Sun-Sat)

    Current 8th-12th grade + Class of 2020


    West Wilkes Middle School - Wilkesboro, NC

    July 25-31 (Sun-Sat)
    Current 6th-8th grade


    Cost per person:     $300 (Scholarships are available upon request)

    *$20 off each additional sibling


    Carolina Cross Connection and First United Methodist Church is complying with CDC, state & conference guidelines.  These trips are approved by the FUMC reopening task force.  Covid Modifications were updated June 5, 2021.

    In 2020 we were unable to participate in mission trips due to the pandemic.

    In 2019 both our mid-hi and senior-high groups participated in mission trips in North Carolina.  Click below to see the video highlights.

  • other outreach efforts - year round

    Throughout the year we participate in many different ministries that are ongoing including providing meals & devotion to With Friends, Inc., assist with Crisis Assistance Ministries, partnering with Holy Angels, and more.  During each fall and winter retreat we participate in an element of mission.

    During the 2020-2021 pandemic we've done the following...

    Created "Friendly Neighbor Bags" for our neighbors without homes

    • Nov. 22nd Outreach - fed 70 families from the Boys & Girls Club & Crisis Assistance Ministries along in partnership with First Presbyterian (Packed Thanksgiving Meal Boxes) (See picture)

    • Wrote letters to shut-ins
